Meta oversight board to examine Israel-Hamas war content

Meta's independent Oversight Board will review how the company handles violent content on its social media platforms in two cases involving hostage-taking and bombing in the Israel-Hamas conflict. The board will use a new expedited review mechanism to make decisions within 30 days. Social media platforms have been flooded with violent, hateful, and misleading content during the Israel-Hamas war. Meta temporarily lowered its threshold for removing harmful content and faced accusations of suppressing support for Palestinians.
