Samsung India challenges $500 million customs penalty over Telecom equipment imports

Samsung India is challenging a hefty $500 million penalty levied by Indian customs, alleging improper classification of imported telecom equipment like networking gear, resulting in reduced customs duties. The company, which supplied the equipment to Reliance Jio, contests the allegations. Samsung's network division reportedly used classifications attracting lower duties, a claim previously raised by customs officials.
